Louis-Colin elementary school

The Louis-Colin School was built in 1966 and previously expanded in 2004. The 2015 expansion includes 6 classrooms, 2 daycare rooms, a resource classroom, non-teaching professional offices, a multipurpose room and a single gymnasium with its services.

The project also targeted the reorganisation of the existing library and the teacher’s room. The new volume of the “L” shaped floors is compact, functional and was design to limit impacts on the size of the school yard. The big windows give the users a perspective on the green spaces and the playing facilities, in addition to bringing natural light. The relation with the existing school is shown by a glass volume on two floors, being the new entry way of the day care. The space includes a vertical contemporary work of art that can be seen from the glass walkway one story above and from the street.
