The HTA team works on two new schools
Notre-Dame du Vieux-Longueuil elementary school will accommodate 500 to 600 students. The three-storey building will replace the one at 695 rue Duvernay, which will be demolished.
Connected to and sharing facilities with nearby community centers, the school is integral to a cultural and educational hub, establishing a prominent institutional presence. By positioning the building near Boulevard Desaulniers, the land along Rue Duvernay will be available for the courtyard, effectively shielding it from vehicular traffic. The height of the building will maximize the residual space on the site, while the use of the basement will reduce the building height and its visual impact. Accessible to the public, the gymnasium, the learning hub and the art and culture area will border the street, while the classrooms will face the backyards of the residences. Moreover, the school's north-facing orientation will protect it from overheating.
Saint-Philippe Elementary School in the Saint-Philippe sector of Brownsburg-Chatham, with a capacity of 384 students, hopes to open in August 2025. The original plan was to build on the same site as the existing school, but the MRC d'Argenteuil and the municipality seized the opportunity to develop a more family-friendly social district by proposing a site close to a park, skating rink and early childhood center. The project will therefore benefit from a park-school agreement.
