Granby’s aquatic complex

Consortium Favreau Blais associés architectes + Héloïse Thibodeau architecte inc.

The project is within the Granby sports center, an area concentrated with a large number of sport facilities.  The main facade of the Aquatic Centre is on two levels, with alternated glazed sections. The recessed upper portion of the facade, allowed the construction of a terrace on the lower roof. The main entrance is marked by an overhanging white volume, thus contrasting the dark gray facade.
The interior organisation of the Aquatic Centre is on three levels including the basement. On the ground floor, there are three main areas: the lobby and the reception area, the pools for swimming and bathing and dressing rooms. Upstairs, there is an observation bridge opened to the pools’ area seats, a glass observation area, offices, a conference/formation room, a training room and two mechanical rooms. The basement houses all the equipment related to the water filtration for the pools and other technical rooms.
