The two-storey extension blends into its surroundings, respecting the scale of the detached single-family homes nearby. Set on a narrow strip of land, the building features a glazed corridor overlooking the schoolyard, which helps to retain an appropriate size. The school is bathed in natural light, penetrating through a skylight in the main hall. The latter opens onto the library, exerting a certain attractive force on the passers-by.

Due to the narrowness of the site, the multipurpose room and gymnasium were positioned in the basement. To create windows in that area, the foundation wall was opened, and the adjoining floor was excavated in the form of a huge “saut-de-loup”. The addition of natural light and a view of the outside makes this basement hall a luminous space, to which an outdoor agora has been added. The agora is composed of bleachers and a plateau, creating a formally unique place for socializing that can accommodate a variety of activities. A terrace has also been laid out on the roof of the lower part of the building.
